Screening for Plagiarism Policy
Journal of Peace and Gender is committed to upholding academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all published works. All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using appropriate similarity detection tools before entering the peer review process.
1. Initial Screening
Each manuscript is checked for similarity upon submission. Manuscripts that show a high level of similarity or clear evidence of plagiarism will be rejected without further review.
2. Acceptable Similarity Threshold
The journal generally considers a similarity index of:
- Below 20% as acceptable, provided no single source exceeds a reasonable proportion
- Above this threshold may require clarification, revision, or may lead to rejection depending on the nature of the overlap
Editors evaluate similarity reports carefully to distinguish between acceptable overlap (such as references, common phrases, or methodology descriptions) and problematic duplication.
3. Types of Plagiarism
The journal strictly prohibits:
- Direct plagiarism (copying text without proper citation)
- Self-plagiarism or redundant publication
- Mosaic plagiarism (patchwriting without proper attribution)
- Data fabrication and falsification
4. Actions in Case of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected:
- Before review: the manuscript will be rejected
- During review: the process will be suspended and the manuscript may be rejected
- After publication: the article may be corrected or retracted
The editorial team may notify the authors’ affiliated institutions in cases of serious ethical violations.
5. Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and proper citation of all sources. Submission to the journal implies that the manuscript is free from plagiarism and complies with ethical standards.
6. Use of Plagiarism Detection Tools
The journal uses reliable plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or similar tools) to ensure the integrity of submitted and published content.
