Publication Ethics
Journal of Peace and Gender is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must ensure that their submissions are original, have not been published previously, and are not under consideration elsewhere. All sources must be properly cited, and plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited.
Authors are responsible for:
- Presenting accurate and honest accounts of their research
- Properly acknowledging the work of others
- Ensuring that all listed authors have made significant contributions
- Disclosing any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest
- Not engaging in data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation
If errors are discovered after publication, authors must promptly notify the editorial team to correct or retract the work.
2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the scholarly merit of submissions, without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnicity, citizenship, or political philosophy.
Editors must:
- Ensure a fair and unbiased peer review process
- Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts
- Avoid conflicts of interest in handling submissions
- Take appropriate action in cases of suspected misconduct
- Uphold academic integrity and ethical standards at all times
3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality of publications through a rigorous peer review process.
Reviewers are expected to:
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback
- Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts
- Identify relevant published work not cited by authors
- Avoid reviewing manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest
- Refrain from using unpublished materials for personal advantage
4. Peer Review Process
Journal of Peace and Gender applies a double-blind peer review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
Each manuscript is evaluated based on:
- Relevance to the journal’s scope
- Originality and contribution to the field
- Methodological rigor
- Clarity and coherence of presentation
5. Plagiarism Policy
All submissions are screened for plagiarism using appropriate tools. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, will be rejected immediately.
The journal follows strict policies against:
- Plagiarism
- Data fabrication and falsification
- Duplicate or redundant publication
6. Conflict of Interest
All participants in the publication process must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the evaluation or interpretation of the manuscript.
7. Data Access and Transparency
Authors may be requested to provide raw data to support their findings. Data should be retained for a reasonable period after publication and be made accessible where appropriate.
8. Corrections, Retractions, and Withdrawal
The journal will take appropriate action in cases of errors or misconduct, including:
- Issuing corrections for minor errors
- Retraction of articles in cases of serious ethical violations
- Withdrawal of manuscripts prior to publication if necessary
9. Ethical Oversight
Research involving human participants must comply with ethical standards and, where applicable, must have received approval from an appropriate ethics committee. Informed consent must be obtained where required.
