Peer Review Process
Journal of Peace and Gender implements a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and relevance of all published manuscripts.
1. Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team to assess their suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, as well as compliance with basic submission requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.
2. Plagiarism Check
Submissions are screened using plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts with significant similarity, plagiarism, or unethical practices will be rejected.
3. Double-Blind Peer Review
The journal applies a double-blind peer review process, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers are selected based on their academic background and experience in the subject area.
4. Review Criteria
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
- Relevance to the journal’s scope
- Originality and contribution to the field
- Theoretical and conceptual clarity
- Methodological rigor
- Quality of analysis and discussion
- Clarity of writing and structure
5. Review Outcomes
Based on reviewer evaluations, the editorial decision may be:
- Accept without revision
- Accept with minor revisions
- Revise and resubmit (major revisions)
- Reject
Authors will receive reviewer comments and are expected to revise their manuscripts accordingly.
6. Revision Process
Authors must submit a revised manuscript along with a response to reviewers, clearly addressing each comment. The revised manuscript may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation if necessary.
7. Final Decision
The final decision on manuscript acceptance is made by the Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor, based on reviewer recommendations and the quality of revisions.
8. Review Timeline
The review process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the extent of revisions required.
9. Confidentiality
All manuscripts and related materials are treated as confidential. Reviewers and editors must not disclose any information regarding submissions.
10. Conflict of Interest
Editors and reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where such conflicts exist.
