Screening for Plagiarism Policy
Journal of Ecologies: Plural Worlds, Relational Ecologies, Regenerative Futures is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and originality in scholarly publishing.
1. Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism prior to the peer review process using reliable similarity detection tools such as Turnitin plagiarism detection software, iThenticate plagiarism detection software, or equivalent systems.
2. Similarity Threshold
The journal applies a maximum similarity index of 20–25%, excluding properly cited quotations, references, and commonly used phrases. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be subject to further editorial evaluation to determine the nature of the overlap.
3. Forms of Plagiarism
The journal strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism, including:
- Direct plagiarism (verbatim copying without proper citation)
- Self-plagiarism or redundant publication
- Mosaic plagiarism (inadequate paraphrasing)
- Misappropriation of data, ideas, or concepts
4. Editorial Actions
If plagiarism is identified:
- Before review: The manuscript may be rejected or returned to the author for revision.
- During review: The review process may be suspended until the issue is resolved.
- After publication: The article may be corrected, retracted, or removed, depending on the severity of the case.
5. Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their submissions and proper citation of all sources. Authors are strongly encouraged to check their manuscripts using plagiarism detection tools prior to submission.
